Nice! Was just thinking about bending a hanger to cook hotdogs in front of my buddy heater.
Might want not to use a coat hanger as many of the metal ones are coated with a finish that may be toxic. Just a thought.

man did I laugh when I saw this..yesterday my buddy that usually does the cooking did not make it out, so all I had was the heater shown and I wanted to cook some dogs. so I used a small cast iron pan.  I just put the handle of the pan through the space between the handle of the heater and the heater itself...it balanced pretty good.  I got too impatient cause it was takin to long, so I ditched that idea and used some tin foil I brought and made like a pouch with the dogs wrapped inside and used the excess foil to make a hook that hung from the heater handle.  The dogs kinda laid on the screen in front of the heater. Did it work...oh yeah they cooked,  but the heat that was trapped behind the foil rose up and melted the handle of the heater a bit.....(hey    whats that smell ??? )   So, yes   your idea will work,   just takes a bit longer, especially if you used a thicker pan. BTW  I'm searching on line now for some sort of 2 burner stove that will double as a hut heater / cooker.......thinking of bringing it out on the boat in summer,  that should be interesting

So i ended up using it on sunday and i have to say it worked way better then i thought... i used my coleman camp dishware (metal enaml i believe) and it heated up in about 10mins not even to be honest. Yea i had it on high and it cooked more on the side the bowl was closer to but u just got to stir it, its not like it was ment for cooking anyways... it Was very convient didnt cook super fast so i was still able to pull a couple fish up and stop to stir ever few mins and before i knew it i was eating a delicouse bowl of beans and brauts... ill post some pics

I have wrapped sandwiches in foil and just set them on top of the heater to warm up.  They need to be turned or they will burn.  The guys laughed because the cheese melted and the bun toasted.  Yummy!  Not bad when you are in a pinch and don't want to take along the cook stove.  I would want to be careful not to spill on the catalytic heater pad. Can't imagine it would be good for the unit. I would double wrap the foil to protect the heater.

Good Mod.

Those 1/4"wire rack pegs bent bent up 90 degree about one inch from the bracket cook polish sausages very well, they hook right on the front. You do need to put a drip pan down though.
