It's new this year, so I doubt many guys have ran it.

I had my hands on one at the Thorne Bros event.  Seems like an nice unit and a really neat concept; I just wonder how long the batteries will hold up in cold weather.  It uses the small watch batteries.

Looks pretty sweet. I would also be concerned with the batteries but I might just have to get one to see how they work.

The fishing was good; it was the catching that was bad.

The only way I could see this being useful is for the violators who leave there tip ups unattended. Come on man, do you really need a gadget to see how much line the fish took off the spool? Wear a watch if you want to wait to set the hook? I don't get that one. And almost every one I know uses some type of marker to set there depth. So I see little value in this.

I really don't see the reasoning behind it. I really don't care how much line has ran out. If it's flying when I get there it is coming out of the hole. If it's not I wait to see if it starts turning and if not gently pull out the tip up and pull lightly on the line to feel for any tension. Ice fishing has never been rocket science. The only electronics we need is a vex. The rest we can use from years ago inventions of a fishing pole/ tip up. Plus the cost of some of these tip ups is getting crazy.

Got one for Xmas and have only tried it out once. It was a cold day and even my beer was freezing but the Tip up didn't even freeze to the water logged hole. As for the electronics, it was so cold I gave up and just set the line and used my flasher to check depth. I do like the magnetic release on the flag!

Too big, Too bulky and Too expensive.

I'll stick with my 25 year old Beaver Dams that have never needed anything but grease and new line once and a while.

Whats next electronic bait or remote controlled minnows?  :-\ :-\ :-\

I got three and caught several fish on them. A solid tipup but the line counter is veru inaccurate. I love my Frabill Artic's and they are 1/3 the price. By the way have used several times...no battery issues.
A bad day of ice fishing is better than any day at work!

my favorite tip ups are my grandpas ol hand me down wood ones, that I have had to fix a bunch of times. I wonder how many fish they have caught through out mine/his years...? thats the only counter I wish I had on my tip ups, a fish counter ;)
Just roll me up and smoke me when I die
