Rigging Polar tip up
« on: Jan 30, 2013, 09:26 AM »
Ok, so how do you rig your tip up? I saw a video on you tube where the guy lets the line sit on the edge of the metal loop and when the fish takes the bait, it pulls the line down into the round metal loop.  Another video I saw shows them running the line directly through the loop . Which is the correct way?

I always run the line through the metal loop. Never had an issue with it. I've used them for years now.

Both ways, depending on the bait and what you are after. I like to clip the line in the guide(loop) with bigger baits so they won't keep tripping the flag. I suppose you could also do it to help set the hook, but to me that defeats best feature of the Polars: a light trigger.
