One big sheet of ice this morning, but it was very open last night.  Windy again today, so we will see if it holds this time.

So east is still intact through last nights high winds.  The wind was howling last night and it didn't break (though it was groaning).  Thats roughly 30-36 hours that I can assure ya it has been locked up as far as i have seen.  Add in the cold (-2 yesterday morning and 0-2 this morning) and I'd guess you have 1.5-2 inches on it now.  Be careful if you check it out this weekend at all and share the info (at least the safety info!).

Also, just heard that someone fished the state boat launch yesterday from my friends at Jim's Bait and Tackle.  They were told he had about 3 inches near the launch, but only 1 -1.5 on the water that was open two nights ago.  FYI my reports pertain to the lakes southern bowl, where the deep water is, not right off the boat launch.  Not sure I'd trust the ice that was 1-1.5 yesterday tomorrow or even sunday, but thats me, a dude who likes living.

If its good clear black ice like it is I would fish 1.5 or 2 if I was shallow. Like under 6fow but definitely wouldn't be on that in deep water
The BIG one is just one flag away!

Species caught : largemouth, smallmouth,  bluegill, perch, White perch, crappie, trout, catfish, bowfin, pickerel, pike

Yeah, to each their own, I was just not trying to say I think it is a good idea.  But I actually drove by just now and there are two groups of three out there right now! Both over about 20 FOW and not seeming very concerned.  One is in the north end where there is white ice that did not break up entirely and the others are by the island right on the edge of the clear ice.  That is definatly a situation where i would be very careful getting grouped up around the shed and shanty (they had both).  Anyway if there are two groups of three out there now, Im sure there will be a bunch of people out there this weekend so good luck and post pics
