Seymour ice conditions?
« on: Jan 16, 2013, 09:45 PM »
Hello guys getting ready for an annual trip to Seymour opening week end.  Anyone know anything about conditions and ice thickness?  We fish the Morgan Store side of the lake.  Thanks...

Hmmmmm  many views with no info.....  OK I callled the Morgan store and they said sketchy but will most likely be safe this week end with cold conditions at night.?????????   OK but still questionable....  I know many people stage up at the launch but no one talks for what ever reason....   So for us out of staters (from NH) that come up and are willing to spend our money in the local economy to have a good few week ends a year we can't seem to get any real help.  Well I use to vacation w/ my family on Seymour as  a kid and that big ass LAKE trout in the MORGAN STORE has brought me back ever since then...   Ready to Put the Smack DOWN ON SOME FISH...  Can anyone help us for this week end even if it's not Seymour????????????????/

I fished seymour on saturdsy. The south end of lake had about 7 or 8 inches of ice. There was a very large section that was still open on thursday out in the middle.

outlet end being the boat access? Did you jig up any smelt? I fished there last year and i talked to an old timer who has fished there for 30 years. He said years ago he could get hundreds in a day and now a days he was lucky to jig up a dozen.

I fished off the access today. 6-7 inches of ice, no smelt.

Hello and thansk for the tips.  We stay on east side only 1.5".  rough....  We fished the west side in 20-40FOW 6" of ice.  Saturday was good Sunday sketchy got caught in the snow squalls/ storm and high winds but had fun.  12 Lakers landed and just as many lost. One keeper 23" .  No smelt in sight not even on the camera.  Thanks everyone and hope to be back up soon...
