Too much sensitivity lately. Go hit up all the Oakland county lakes, you'll be far better off.

What an interesting topic. Here is my take. We all like to brag a little and we are proud of a nice mess, big fish, or dandy buck that we are rewarded with after plenty of hard work and a little luck. I like seeing pics and hearing success stories just as I like sharing them. I also love to learn a little from other people's success and also get a good feeling helping out another sportsman. But I also think we need to use some common sense. Some of our little honey holes are too small to share with hundreds of die hards on this forum. But there are other great bodies of water that withstand a great deal of pressure and there should be no problem passing on some of those gems to others. It's similar to the fishing shows that are done in our state. They will tell you if they are fishing St. Clair, Traverse Bay, Burt/Mullett, Muskegon/White, maybe even Gun or Cadilac or Mitchell. But if it's a smaller body of water they will say "a lake in the T.C. area" or a small lake in South East Michigan. I agree with the one post that suggests using the PM for more specific info. I think many guys are willing to give a little more info for one guy who specifically asks about a lake. And I don't think a guy should be afraid to ask about a specific lake. To me, that is someone "doing their homework". First hand fishing knowledge is way more beneficial than some DNR stocking record from 1986. CAN'T WE ALL JUST GET ALONG????
I agree with go lions! If you need specific lake names and maybe want to meet up for a day of fishing a PM is the best way to go. As for techniques (weed lines or drop offs), what type of gear (poles, line, jigs, bait) what kind of refreshment (bud, pbr, crown royal-my favorite!) and all other pertinent information to make you a better fisherman should be no problem with sharing that here. Maybe some of us did not have a DAD or BIG BROTHER or GOOD FRIEND around to help teach some of these guy's the skills that we all have and make us what we are today! Looking out for our fellow MAN and sportsman is what we should be all about! We are SPORTSMAN are we not? Sorry, I have said enough, Lot's O' lunkers to you all!

I hate to drop names but as CP says I caught a fish once. It was in lake Michigan. I hope I didn't just destroy the fishery. This #%*% is worse than my girlfriend on facebook. I don't disagree with a PM if it's a tiny lake or pond. But if you're talking about a decent sized public lake come on. Even on a lake with hundreds of people fishing just a small portion of the fisherman are really tearing them up. It's more about exact location a techniques and tactics that catch fish not just being on a lake with fish in it. You will never hear me say I got skunked today because some internet yahoos fished my lake out. I have more faith in my own abilities than that. Just my 2 cents it is what it is. Good luck and tight lines too all.  (PS I expect a massive increase in bait and tackle sales in the Lake Michigan area)
