  • If you cant catch fish catch a buzz!
Hi just looking to see if anyone knows much about where I should be fishing on Androscoggin Lake in Wayne/Leeds? Going to fish it this Saturday and go after some browns. I have heard the furthest island north on the Wayne side usually produces some good fishing. Any help would be great. Thanks guys!

There's a public boat launch, not sure if it is maintained throughout the winter months though...As far as the lake goes, I can't help you there. Fish it in the summer for bass, but its a big lake to tackle on foot, especially when targeting the elusive brown trout, and with the bottom of the lake the way it is

There is usually a small community of shacks right off the landing so I'm assuming its good fishing there. Be careful if you go past there on the right there is a point with a small stream running in that does not freeze very well!

I've always found andro lake to be pretty slow the few times I've fished it thru the ice. There are some big pickerel in there. Good luck.

The biggest browns I have ever caught have come from androscoggin lake. That being said it is a tough lake to fish and you need to put your time in to finding them, just like everyone else. Find points and drop offs, check out maps. Browns can be found shallow near shore, holding over deep water suspended, or right on the bottom. Find bait, like over structure, and you should find browns. I suggest using smelts. Remember many times when a lake is stocked the fish are dropped in at the boat launch. Good luck.

The lake is full of alewives, smallest shiners u can find will make u the best brown bait. If you go on at the landing when u look to your LEFT, you'll she a set of buoys that mark where the channel comes through to the small part, stay on the snowmobile trail that goes out through the middle off them as if you were a boat.  : : @)
How they biten
