vexilar vs marcum
« on: Jan 29, 2013, 04:54 PM »
I was looking into getting a camera and have it narrowed down to a vexilar scout 2000 or a marcum vs625sd! Just wondering what every body had tried and liked about either!?

My buddie just bought the vexlar and in my opinion it is no better than my dads cheap cabealas brand camera.  You can not see much more than four foot in the water around here.

My buddy got the Vexilar camera at one of the shows this season and he wishes he would have gotten the Marcum, he used my Marcum last year a few times and said the picture is much better on the Marcum. He did save a few bucks though.

I have the marcum color 6 inch.  It's pretty good and the directional assist is great for prefishing because I can look over at fish and never have to drill holes on them to figure out where exactly they are.  If I traded it for any camera on the market.  It would be for an 8 inch marcum.  Just because bigger screens make for better viewing in my opinion.  If the water isn't clear or it is deep you will find yourself straining to make out passing crappies that resemble ghosts.  A bigger screen I think would help.
Where's the ice

I had a cabelas camera once and took it back unsatisfied, couldn't see much at all.  Now have a marcum 625 black and white and love it.  Sure, the water has to be really clear to see much but when you see that big northern investigate then inhale your alewife and steel leaders it is worth every penny and you learn a lot too.  Like - USE LONGER LEADERS!  The cabelas may not have been that bad in more clear water but would buy the marcum again.

my buddy has a cheap aqua veiw or cabelas one im not sure though, itd black and white. it has about 5ft of visibility at best and thats when ur in a dark hut. i was checkin ryans out at SB and that thing is nothing short of awesome, 15-20ft is no BS and the water that day was pretty murky. anything within 10 ft was crystal clear and id say clear out to 20ft if not a lil more. i could only imagine what it would do in lakes that have very good water clarity.....oh and the thingy with all the pretty lights that it was connected to was awesome too!!

After hearing the reviews and advise of ever one on here and a little research,  the new marcum 825 will be ordered tomorrow just hoping there will be enough ice in a couple week to atleast use it once this year
