flashers through the ice?

does it really work when you use a little water on top the ice and shoot through the ice when it is black clear ice???

I tried it last year and to my surprise it does. But it needs to be black ice free of air bubbles.

Sure does. Some one mentioned he uses a ziplock bag full of water and sets the transducer on it when shooting through the ice.
It seems to go from zero to hero all some have to do is lie.

Sure, I did it yesterday. I keep an empty bottle in my shanty that I fill with lake water and just walk around checking the ice. Dump a splash on the ice, set your transducer down, and turn the gain up just a tiny tiny bit.

It works for depth yet will not find fish.  Need a hole to find fish.

You will need a hole to CATCH fish, I don't poke a hole til I mark fish thru the ice.

I must admit that I have never tried to find fish without a hole. I always drill first. I have checked depth yet will be trying this as soon as we have some clear ice in my area. Was always told that you could not find fish without drilling an opening. Hope you guys are right and stand corrected.
