We launched the boat at Whitehall yesterday and ran up the lake ,, there was skim ice in several spots 100' out from shore on both sides.

not for another 3 weeks or so i would say if it stay real cold. theres a good current going through the bay. espcially by the bridge and the trestle.

two turns with a 4" Nils...thats about 2.5+" of ice, no?

It's a 6" Nils and unfortunately only 1.5". If there was 2.5" I would be out!

Probably wont be until after first of the year to be on champlain. Last yr I was on Upper saranac on new yrs days but that place has its own weather system...lol...didnt get on champlain until second week of january last yr I think

Spent some time up there mid 80's. The fishing and people in Plattsburgh are second to none. Still miss it.
