Sibley Reservoir
« on: Nov 26, 2012, 02:06 PM »
If any one is looking for a great spot to take a kid ice fishing for trout. Sibley Reservoir would be a great place. Just take US HWY 14 west of Dayton, Wyoming. It's about 18 miles up the mountain from Dayton. Keep our tradition alive, take a kid fishing or hunting.

What kind of trout do they have in there? Where is a good place to fish that lake? Drove by many times, but never fished it.

Brown, brook and rainbows for sure, maybe cutthroat.

It has Bow's, Cut's and a lot of brooks. You can fish just about any place on it and slay cut's and brooks. The bigger bow's are a little harder to find. I've fished it for a long time and can't say I've ever pulled any browns out. Never pulled anything really big out. I would say the biggest was 13-14in Bow's. Just an fyi I like to threw on the flashers on the pickup and unload and pick up my gear right next to the guardrail on the highway by the Dame on the West side. Then if you pull forward like your heading back to Dayton there is a nice parking spot about 300 yards from where you dropped you gear. It saves you from having to battling the hill by the parking spot. A Buddy said the ice was around 6in . It freezes pretty early and hard.

My best area is basically if your standing on the highway looking at the lake on the left side there is a cove. I fish the cove or that point that's coming out of the cove, right on that point in about 12 FOW. It seams if you go deeper then about 20 FOW it's really slow. Don't know if this will help but hop on google earth and try and find this coordinates 44 45' 44.34" North 107 26' 10.76" West

Here are a few others spot's I have done good on the hard water.
44 45' 49.26 N 107 26' 12.49 W This one is really shallow I think it was about 4 or 5 FOW lots of 8 inchers
44 45' 42.56 N 107 26' 08.12 W This spot I have nailed some nice Bow's

Lot's of people over fish the damn area, dock area and anything along the highway. Just remember anything that's easy for people to walk to is way over fished. Good luck.
