thank u crossroads and schroon lake
« on: Mar 01, 2012, 10:00 PM »
I went to Schroon on Wednesday by myself. Stopped at Crossroads Bait shop and what a pleasure. Not only did they have the right bait and food but the son (sorry I forgot his name) told me exactly where to get lakers and salmon. I have never been to this lake and he was my only guide.

After 5 hrs on the ice I got my first (and only) flag. After three runs, and my heart pounding through my chest, I got my first laker throught the ice. 23" and it was a beautiful fish.

Since this is my first laker through the ice I am completley stoked. We must all suppport our local bait shops. Without this board and Crossroads I would not have stood a chance.

Yes, Crossroads is a top-notch establishment. Helpful and cheerful staff, they start your day out right with the way they take care of you. Below are some other bait shops that I also would like to acknowledge for the excellent way they treat customers, and the bait is always very healthy as it is at Crossroads.

Country Pets - Hudson Falls
Beach Road bait and tackle - Lake George.
The Ultimate Warrior is possessed with great power from the heavens above ! Against the mighty lake trout and pike and schools of crappie, the power of the WARRIOR will always ......... PREVAIL !!!

Mike and the rest of the Crossroads staff have always been very helpful.  Also have some great clothing buys upstairs.  Love to stop there for breakfast/lunch and converse with some of the locals.  Want a real treat - get one of their 1/2 subs for lunch w/some macaroni salad.  The 1/2 sub is larger than most regular subs purchased elsewhere.

Could not agree more.  The Wests are great people and Crossroads is THE place for sandwiches, gear, and bait.
