Here's an old one that got dug back up.... ;D

I have become even more superstitious since I put this up!

The first one is that I never get dressed till I get to the lake now. I wear jeans, tennis shoes and a hoodie till I get to the boat ramp. The times I have violated this, it's been a bad trip. I also never spit chew on the ice. I found out that a gob of snuff can me massive bad mojo.

I will still throw it down a partners hole to mess up a flasher though! ;D

I think the pickled herring still works... We have well over 20'' of ice in most places north of the metro and it has been a freakishly warm year.

Wow! You guys got problems. No superstitions here. First fish, last fish, hat backwards , forwards, ha ha. Clear your minds, there is no negative force working against you but yourself.

I always sit on the left side of the shanty and first bait is a pink tear drop that is set-up in front of my wife when she is fishing with me.

I left for a Wisconsin ice fishing trip Friday the 13th of last month and wouldnt you know, 3 days 2 fish and the absolute worst 3 days fishing ever. Not in any other sense than the fishing but still. 2 fish 3 days?? Come on man.

i never drill a hole where a group of cracks intersect, always think the ice will give way and will fall in and die.

Catch a fish BEFORE opening a beer on the ice or having a dip.
If it goes on for too long though, you might as well crack the beer, or it could be a really long day.

I have to wear my best friend Mike's Pella "Big Dutch" coat and take along his rod and reel and Clam 5600 shanty. I take pre- made grilled cheese sandwiches and vienna sausages to heat up on the Big Buddy heater. A Natural Ice beer to wash it down with for Mike, Miller High Life for me. To keep my hands warm, I have to thank my buddy Mike for turning me on to these charcoal stick heaters! Mike was left handed so,he would be on the left side and I'm right handed so, I'm on the right. When referring to walleyes he would call them Wallagators! I really miss Mike every ice fishing season but, this way a part of him goes out with me everytime. We shared alot of great times together!

When hits die down I'll look at my father and we kinda know thats its time and he will sing "Here wally wally wally!" Seems to work more than it don't. I do it on occasion but its always better when he does it.

1. Only fish on days that end in Y
2.  Always open my own beer
3.  Never spit down my hole
4.  Never fish with the windows open in the shanty (my friend swears light scares the fish)
5. Always give my minnows the first taste of my first beer

I try not to spill auger gasoline into the hole. I think it scares off fish.
