Well folks,
Another gathering in the bait bucket! It was great to meet so many folks even though it appears I didn't meet all of you. Usually folks at least come over to base and say hi but there was just enough of a wind out there to make folks want to hunker down near their camps, or perhaps they were just shy
Next year we'll do a meet up time or something for a group photo or something.
Congratulations for those who caught fish today (unlike me
) The river gave up a Teen'er so that was great and congats.. I'll be the first to admit that the cove is stingy and in six tries we have yet to have a really good flag day there but every year she does give up. People also landed the standard River mix of Bass, pickerel, punkers, perch, and Crappi.
My personal highlight was watching NewPilgrim, who is quite new to ice fishing, throw an atomic hookset on a poor fish. A Marlin would have stood no chance against that set
Needless to say, his 4 pound leader separated. You'll get him next time Pilgrim. I very much enjoyed the banter and conversations around the warming fire. And, a public apology to stripernut and the burrow of athol for my public deformation of the town. It's just that, well.......it's Athol!
So, after ~3.500 views and 185 reply's, I guess I"ll sign off on this thread now and have it unsticky'ed. Thanks to all who showed and helped make this a great gathering. It was good fun and we will probably do it again next year, God willing and The River don't rise.
