hey fish_skywalker

I just recently found a ray Jeff flasher unit in one of my dads old sheds. It's just the flasher unit no transducer or battery. Are you looking are getting rid of your old unit. I don't even know if this unit works. Kind of in the same boat as you tho not much money (college). So if you are getting rid of you old one I would be interested in it. Also any info on ray Jeff flasher is very helpful also. Can't find much about them on the web.

Thanks
Got one on :)

I got that Zercom rts and use it.  It works great for only spending $60 or so total on it.  Shows me how deep it is where I am fishing, where fish are suspended, and shows my lure.  Great buy if you can't afford a Vex.

Here is a link to basically the exact same set-up that I have.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=384&item=7128996374&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW

Go to ebay and search for "Zercom rts"

I don't think they sell them anymore at the factory?  They were selling refurbished ones last year.  I am not 100% positive on this though?

You can use a graph type depth finder.  I have a cheap $120 Eagle and it has 2 modes.  I use the second mode which shows a flasher type display where my lure and fish show up as lines instead of fish symbols.  I also have to put it on manual and adjust the sesativity for my lure to show up but it does work real well.

It does have issues working in extremely cold weather, but it works just fine inside a heated house and in relatively normal temperatures.  Below 20 degrees is when it starts to act slow.

If your question was for me, Yes, I do aim it strait down.  My transducer is mounted to a rod that attaches to my box and I usually level it by aligning the top of it with the surface of the water.
