GPS Ram Mount Assistance
« on: Jan 03, 2015, 08:44 PM »
Posted this on another thread but no response. Here is what I am hoping. Looking to mount my humminbird  597ci hd on my handle bars of my sled using HB part 740116-1, which is a two jointed ram mount with u bolt to connect to handle bars. This would allow for GPS to safely navigate on ice. Then upon arrival at fishing spots, I would like to easily remove the HB 597 and place it in the ice pack I currently use on the ice. Issue is that I can not find any info on how the unit disconnects from the mount and if I can easily remove the unit from the mount. Or do I need to purchase some type of quick disconnect and attach that to the mount??? Or will a quick disconnect even fit on this mount. Any help is appreciated. I would like to resolve this issue and get dual use from my unit. Thanks in advance.

If  it's like this one, looks like you'll get a stripped down version of the Humminbird quick disconnect.

No sir, I need to secure to handle bars using HB part 740116-1. Tried to paste a link but phone would not let me do it. Question is is what is the best way to then remove it really and clip it in to the portable ice pack.

Look at the picture on the front of the package... looks like a quick disconnect is included.

That's the one I have on my ATV. It works slick and will be perfect for what you are trying to accomplish.

Thanks so much. I can't really get a good view on my phone ofthe kit. That's exactly what I was hoping for was to find someone who had the mount and was using it for double duty. Thanks!!!
