I've used it as a scent cover up deer hunting. I can't say if it's a proven method but must have read it in an outdoor magazine or sumpthin. Never tried it fishing. Do you? Does it seem to help?

My granpa (big bass guy) swore by the stuff...he use to get the oil and put it in a medicine bottle and dip his plastic/rubber worms in it..... When he passed I got some of his stuff...plenty of bottles of that stuff...and if you would leave tackle in it it would start to dissolve it.

Huh. All new to me. I wonder if adding a tad of black liqourisch to a teardrop would work??

If any of you guys have picked up any of the J&S plastics you will notice that they have an anise scent to them.  If you do add it yourself, I would use it sparingly, as a little goes a long way, and will smell up your tackle box.  ;D

Same here, have been good for perch.  Starting to experiment with the Gojo in the red/blue/green glow colors for crappie.

I use anise scented wIrma exclusively in open water. Wave worms are a great worm with a powerful anise scent that the largemouth can't get enough of.
I don't give in till I get enough!!!

I use it occassionaly for bluegills and I get mixed results...sometimes it. Spooks em and other times it makes no difference...but I will say this...when I'm jigging for bluegills without the oil I rarely catch bass when I use the oil I'm almost guaranteed to have one on the end of the line at some point...I only try the oil when the bluegills are actin funny and do the ol looky see...when they are bitin well why bother right?

I always carry a small bottle of anise in my boat and tackle box.  like said before, a lil goes along ways!!!  I keep a bottle in a sandwich bag with a rubberband around the bottle to hold a toothpick that is used as an applicator for the anise....... now all the secrets are out   :icefish:

It can work at certain times but it will also definitely spook fish on occasion. Make sure you also carry non-treated bait presentations too.

It's great to put on bear bait. You can buy it on-line for $40/Gal.
