No I haven't. I'm not familiar with the lake at all. Only fished it one time in the summer. The ice seemed a little to sketchy this year for me. Sure wanted to go tho.  :( How was the ice?

The ice was in alot better shape than everyone made it out to be, just needed a little caution and it was fine. ;D
I'd rather do it on the ice

If you click the hawg derby link on that page, they had one walleye weighed. Crazy
I'd rather do it on the ice

Sand point is the rock pile point just south of Sand Creek about a half mile below the canyon.

Ice was 12-18 where we fished. Between 6 of us we landed over 60 fish. I got two 2nd place hourlys worth $50.00 each, one on Sat and one on Sun. W**d was howling the whole w/end but fish seemed hungry, more so on Sunday. We kept 24 between the 6 of us for some good eats. Was a great time!

Yeah i dunno what everyone was talkin about witht the ice it was good hard ice 12" where we fished. I had one rainbow 4.40lbs that won a 2nd place hourly. It was a fun weekend for sure hope everyone had a good time. Talked to the sheriffs and they said there were a couple 4wheelers at the bottom of the lake but no serious injuries or anything

The ice was a bit sketchy the weekend prior to the derby but thanks to mother nature changing her course,it cooled down and reformed some good ice,we had a good 12" where we was at too and didn't see any bad areas,we sure didn't catch too many fish, half a dozen or so and no money fish but had a blast as usuall

The waleye that was turned in was only a little over a pound so it had only one shot at winning anything at all.
