Wrong question to ask apparently. I guess its a pretty sore subject for some of the people on here. My best advice to you is to do some research online/at bait shops/etc. You will find places. It's not really a big secret if you just check the older stock reports on lakes that used to receive them. People are protective of their places sinces they tend to get slammed with people. It makes sense. But if you're a licensed fisherman you have every right to fish wherever they do. Just have to put in the time to find the spots.
Cheers,

Pete

Welcome!  First things first, you could have saved yourself some time by reading one of the numerous pike threads that are currently active and or do a search.  The answers are available to those who don't mind doing a bit of homework.

Fisherman in general.. not just pike fisherman get testy whan asked about their favorite fishing holes.. it's kind of like asking him/them what color undies his wife wears... just aint nobody's buisness... as others have stated.. waters that hold stocked fish.. incuding pike are no mystery.... you just have to go and find them.. in this day and age of google earth and the internet... it's almost too easy.. I still like the old school method of getting  a toppo map and then finding the fish....

Good point Joe.  My gripe is exactly what you mention, it's so easy to figure this stuff out with the internet these days and moreover half the fun is finding and trying new places.  I've said it before about striper fishing and I repeat about pike, it'a not instant gratification fishing.  Even if someone hands you a perfect spot, the right bait, and tells you what weather to fish in, it doesn't mean your going to catch.

Welcome aboard. Please take a minute to look around and explore the site. One of the best feautures of this site is search function. Here is a link on "how to use the search" feature.

http://wiki.simplemachines.org/smf/Search

I am sure if you search for pike and go thru the pages you will find plenty of posts related to. In fact, if you research enough you will find reports where people actually post where they were fishing, conditions, bait used, presentation, etc, etc.

I guess the " you scratch my back , I'll scratch yours " & "One hand washes the other " is just an Urban Legend !? When you try to help , crapped on ! When you talk about a pond ,crapped on ! When you think you will get some pointers ,crapped on ! I'm not saying all members are this way !!! but some are :( I have 33 years of fishing experience (started @ 5 years old ) I have NO problem sharing techniques on bass fishing ! I've been taught many different techniques ,but honed it down to what works great for me . Same goes for pike ! I've been shown a few new tricks from a guy at a Derby !!! Then I turn around and beat him in the Derby ! He said " Congratulations way to go " I thought he would be upset ! NOPE happy to help !!! I didn't just learn a little about pike fishing . I saw pride ,gratitude, and the joy of teaching a fellow fisherman ! Now I will help anyone with questions on improving their skills !!! That's me though ,to each his own ! GOOD LUCK GUYS ON YOUR PIKE HUNT ! CATCH THE BIGGIN :-)

It comes down to the fact that die hard fisherman spend day in and out researching online, reading, fishing and figuring stuff out. Not to mention trying numerous places every week, then the places within water bodies. So when you finally piece something together you think someone is gunna tell you what they learned over the past __ years. I know most people want to be pointed in the right direction but you can look at "stocked waters info" or instead of asking for the information to be brought to you, look around a bit. Nobody who is a "great" fisherman got their by being told exactly what to do by one person. A good fisherman is consistent, he can adapt to weather and changes. So when you don't get exactly what your looking for within 24 hours of posting and then bicker about it. Your only hurting yourself. Also when people are asking the same question everyday. Who really wants to keep posting with the same response! Everyone wants to skip right to hooking and landing fish. Well thats not how it is.

its good to be able to give info or teach someone how to or show spots or what ever !!! it sucks when you do it and then they forget all about who you are and do it with other people and treat you like a disease !! tends to make ya think twice who you talk to !!!ill give anybody good info but like Munich said why after all our hard work do we want to give it up. like i said before walk your own feet and do some home work you will find them. you then say i dont want your hot spot well if you find pike its not always a hot spot untill you catch one that makes it  one . so day out day in we hunt for them as much as we can more than others i cant put in much time as i want on them but i dont want to go to (my spot ) and get in line ....  ;) nothing personal ive been burned on hunting spots and fishing . i love the outdoors and will help who ever when i see on ice or whatever to a certain point !!! good luck and maybe ill see ya lol  ;D

i am new to the site and i like reading all replies. if guys don't
want to give up there spots here its OK by me. But i haven't
met a guy yet while out on the ice that won't help you out.
what I'm saying is that I try new lakes when I can, and guys
who fish there alot will tell you how and where to fish them.
Just have to be on the ice not on the computer

well said newbie! You joined during an INTERESTING year. What's going on here is not the norm... (I think once it locks up everywhere you'll see the old shanty)I've made MANY friends, some who I have still never met. One(complete stranger) took the time to look at my region on satellite, find spots that he would trap for bait, and than sent me a pm to help me in my quest. Another time I had some of the pike hunters(who I had not met in person yet) drive their quad all the way across the lake to pick up 2 newbies on shore, drag us across the lake, laugh at our  "pike bait" and hook us up with giant goldens only to have us set up 10 more traps along side of theirs. I've seen members helping members all the time. Just one messed up year. Take some time and search through the archives of years past and you will see the camaraderie that makes this sight great
