Dedication to what we love!
« on: Jan 12, 2012, 07:24 PM »
As of right now I am taking a brief break from a paper that I am writing for class..

Due tommorrow is a 7-10 page persuasive essay of a topic of my choice...  Guess what I chose? - The dangers of Asian Carp

This is my current working thesis statement "It is imperative to eradicate the Asian carp in the United States to maintain environmental and economical stability." Pretty catchy, huh?  I can't wait to see the reactions of my peers when my paper is presented.  ;)

I thought for a moment the underlined title was a link to your paper! Good choice!Too bad politicians are more concerned about bringing in the imports down the shipping channels than stopping an invasive species from totally destroying our great lakes! In my opinion, its already too little, too late!

When your done you should send it over to the Feds. It will be the same reaction as always with government. Instead of being proactive and identifying a serious problem. That will ruin the greatest fresh water ecosystem in the world. They will wait and let it get out of control and spend limitless $$$$$ trying to fix it. It will be to late and another giant waste of tax payer $. Just once I would like to see them not F a great thing up.

If it gets to the point to where Asian carp are confirmed in the Great Lakes, just look for a guy in a Nitro 901 CDX dual-wielding crossbows and cursing at the top of his lungs.. There you will find me.

If u want something to get all messed up let the gov't take it over and make the final decision.  Its a shame that this country seems to run this way lately but at least we still have the freedom to complain about it.

2 summers ago there was someone on Michigan-sportsman saying he found an Asian carp in a dumpster at a fish cleaning station somewhere on Lake Michigan.    They say there has been either water or bottom samples taken from just a few miles away from Lake Michigan that showed Asian Carp DNA in the water so I would guess they have made it to the lake already.

Well I've read that the Asian carp will never really take off as a dominant species in Lake Michigan, Huron, or Superior due to the water temps and depths, plus forage base, but if (and mostly when) they get to Lake Erie, it is the perfect environment for them to flourish, over riding any native species.

I myself, am worried about Lake St. Clair.  I take several trips there yearly, both hard and soft water....  I have too many fond memories of that lake to see it go to s***.

The name of the game is "MONEY" the objective is how can I get it and what do I need to do no matter what. This country was not intended to be built on greed but unfortunately that's what happened and any one with power does not need a title like Democrat or Republican because they all only have one thing in mind.............."Playing the game"

And at this rate, they can make money off us until we are all poor and broke, by then their will be other plenty of other prosperous nations out there to take advantage of.  The rich get richer and poor just get poorer.

Both rich and poor are making less money now but the difference is that the working man fights to keep the heat on in his house while the fat cats can't get that new 2012 yacht  >:( . The whole government needs to change and party's don't mean jack. Just keep trying to do the things you love (fishing and hunting) and screw caring about the government cause they sure don't care about us.

Yep! Well said Higgins. Democrats and Republicans just give people a reason to point to the other side and blame them. In reality, they're just sock puppets who get paid to change our country from democracy to capitalism. But that has already happened for the most part. How to fix the economy? Unemployment high? Well let's see, quit exporting our resources just to import China's junk. Open up all the factories we've lost in the last 20 years and bam, problem solved. But it's plain and simple, there is no money in it for them so why the heck would they do something that asinine??? A sad example of what's happening: I went to the hardware to buy a stovepipe thermometer. They had one in stock. I flip it over and look at the price. $22.99! Knowing I could buy the same thing at TSC for $2.99, I figured it wasn't a wise buy. So I held off. The difference? The hardware stores brand was made in GOOD OL USA! TSC's version= C H I N A. Now tell me how in the hell a piece of metal with a magnet and spring made in this country, delivered from the manufacturer by truck to the distributor to the hardware costs 8 times as much as the same piece of metal with a magnet and a spring THAT HAS BEEN MADE IN ANOTHER COUNTRY AND SHIPPED ACROSS THE OCEAN??? It frickin sucks

Ha Ha Ha I can see it now................... ."your new 2085 President, President Jack Smith:sponsored by Wal-mart,Mcdonalds and BP"

Capitalism would not be such a bad thing if it was governed correctly. Capitalism just makes corporations fight for your dollar which would not be a bad thing cause then things stay at a fair price but when companies started outsourcing they killed the economy because now the guy who just lost his job can't buy things even if it is at a crazy low price of $4.99 while the American company that choose to stay in the U.S. has to put a high price on there items because the worker who made that item can't live on a $1.50 ph wage because the American life style is so much different than a Korean,China,Indonesia life style. If the government would have stepped in 50 years ago and said "NO" to outsourcing and extreme importing I think this Country would have been allot better off. O well now we are BLANKED  ;D

And I don't understand this either?  Does this mean you support occupiers?   If so, why would you be against sending our jobs to China etc.?  Obama and Democrats endorse (or atleast did until the crimes got out of hand) the occupy movement.  Obama wants to raise taxes on wealthy business owners who create jobs and raise taxes on big corporations that create jobs to offset the debt his failed policies and spending have created.  So if he were to raise those taxes, those business owners and corporations would ship more jobs overseas to offset the cut in their profits.  I guess I don't get where you stand?  Or I took that muscle flexing smiley the wrong way?

Capitalism is fine and what our country is built on. Things went wrong when these capitalists forgot where they came from, and gave into the greed and power without looking at the big picture and the future of the middle class which happens to be the "pistons" that make America's motor run the right way. It's now all about me me me me me for them, and that's too bad because our great nation will never go back to what it's supposed to be without them changing that greedy attitude they have acquired. We need a president who will put his foot down, and up(if you catch my drift), when needed and put an end to this good ole boys club they have going on capitol hill with our hard earned tax money. It's high time for a thorough sweeping of the greed that leads this country. Can I have a HELL YA!!!!!

More or less, That's what I was trying to say. I'm not the most up to date on politics and really don't pay a lot of attention but the idea that these people in Washington care more about themselves than this nation is ridiculous. I understand a lot of what's happening is just America adjusting to a global economy but too many jobs are being lost to foreign countries and never coming back at this point. Yes capitalism is what made us great but now the higher ups are taking it too far.  I just am saying too that if its a democrat or republican in office, it doesn't make a difference. It's the same outcome and unless someone gets into office who actually cares about the country and not about power and money, then things might start to get better. And Incogneato, the huffing and puffing man was just sarcasm.

Another problem is that when a bill does finally get passed to change something good it's 400 pages long with plenty of loop holes so on the out side it looks like something is being done but in reality it's just smoke and mirrors  :%$#!:

Sorry for high jacking this thread but this is kinda why Asian Carp are getting in, stuff that seems like a simple fix is overcomplicated by Greedy men in business suits.
