I've fished it several times.  have caught pickerel and small perch. Just watch the current by the dam and where the streams come in under cut the ice making it thin.  Park at the boat launch and walk out is the easiest and safest bet.

Ever find any eyes?  The state used to dump quite a few in there but Ive never heard of anyone really gettin into them...

Never.  I have tried for years but nope, nothing. just pickerel, and dink perch. I've got inlaws with a camp up there. In all their years up there they have never caught one or heard of anyone catching any up there. I think the lake is way to shallow for them to survive. Its average depth is 6 feet.

This is going to be a waste of your time this year. The town drained the lake in the fall ans sent thousands of fish for a ride down to the Great Sacandaga. I walked across the lake with hipboots the next day. My dock was 12 feet up in the air. Many of the other locals who fish are still furious. All of those nice largemouths are gone.

Never seen any walleyes caught out of there.  The best place to park is at the boat launch and walk out into the cove to the main lake. See above posts about it being drained this fall though.

Only a few walleyes have been caught that I know of. The last couple were caught in the back bay between the two points, The water there is 12 to 14 feet deep. The best hardwater spot to fish on Algonquin is on the dam side of the two points. The only problem with this is that the local snowmobile drag strip is close to there. The last two weeks the fishing has been very slow. We only had one flag all day on Saturday. I think the draining of the lake in the fall ruined the fishing for many years to come. If you are going after walleyes the deepest spot in the lake is twenty five yards off of the new fishing peer located in the dam bay It is 22 feet deep. The rest of the dam bay is from 9 to 16 feet deep. The old river channel that runs through the lake also has spots that are 12-18 feet deep The channel winds around and is hard to follow if you don't know the lake. You cant go by the map that you get in the fishing guide they sell at Wallmart. It is not even close ! Who ever put that map together didn't ever spend any time on lake Algonquin. The fact that the book says that the lake has a great spring trout run from Elbow creek is a real laugh. Many locals that I know laugh about that. I have only caught two trout out of Algonquin in 30 + years of fishing it.
