Cascade Report
« on: Jan 08, 2012, 08:09 AM »
We ended up fishing the Sugar Loaf area, couple hundred yards South of old road bed for most of the day and then we moved West from there out by the pressure ridge. The trout hit as we were setting up. Lost them all as on my tip up even though I have 6lb line there is no drag. They just snapped the line like it was not there. In 20 years of using these never been a problem. Hooked on one with a 24" pole with 4lb line and after 10 minutes lost him. Ended up with one trout and three nice perch all caught using half large night crawler, small ball of red power bait, and 4 or 5 turns from the bottom in 12 -18 ft of water.

Lots of folks fishing the Island and other side of Lake. Even the crazies driving cars on the ice, but an unbelievable day for January.

Nice pile of fish, perchmasterson. I made it there Saturday night for a couple hours, 1 dink and 1 jumbo. Time for me to get a power auger, or get someone else to drill them for me. lol Looks like another nice week up here.

Nice haul Perchmasterson.  Do you walk out to the island, or use a snomobile or 4-wheeler?

I ran into someone the week before last.  I was at Sugarloaf Campground with my two daughters and a bunch of tipups set up, and someone on a four wheeler came by saying they had gotten it stuck out in the rift, buried it to the headlight.  Was that anyone on here?

Curious...if you run into someone and start chatting it up...do you say "Hey, are you on the Shanty?" "What's your call sign?"  LOL.

Why would you talk about fishing?  J/k.  Ya, this guy was just out taking water depths wasn't fishing.

Sweet, Thanks for the pics. I ran all over the place at Poison Sunday, East and West. Drilled tons of holes. Looked like others had done the same on Saturday. Was determined to get on the fish instead of sitting back drinkin PBR and waiting for them to come to me. I iced 6 perch, 1 small trout. 8am - 4:30. Should have sat back and drank beer instead  ::)
Don't know where they went, but I'm guessing to Sugerloaf lol. Just when I thought I had 'em dialed in...

Has anyone parked on the north end of the old road bend by Hot Spring Creek, and walked or motor'ed out from there?  Just curious if that road goes all the way to edge of the water there, and if you can drive to it.  Thanks.

Hey Brent, if you mean the old road at the second bend before the straight shot to SL campground, they have it fenced and locked. Walked that last year, but had to lift my gear sled over the fence...

Looks like it's called "Old State Road" and comes in from the north.  Basically the north end of the road on the other side of the bay from where you are talking about I believe.  Just wondered if that road went all the way to the edge of the water on that side or maybe it's gated too.
