Devils Lake Ice

I'm coming up there from Wyoming in Feb for some perch. Was wondering if anyone knows what the ice is like right now on the lake?

Main lake was open this past weekend..per Eds baitshop  3-4" on some bays....  Suppose to be colder this week... 0 F. this am.

a friend and I are planning a trip to Devils Lake but have never been there before, does anyone have any advise as to where to start from?  Would you guys recommend a guide service for our first outing?  thanks.

I have drove up to devils lake from Wyoming twice. I would recommend just getting some good lake maps and talk to the guys at Ed's Bait Shop. They will give you good information on where the fish are biting.

We are heading there staying at Woodland resort on Dec. 27. Sure hope there is good ice. Any other reports?

  We are leaving on the 27th. heading down till the 30th. I have been emailing back and forth with Woodlands and they are telling me that there is a min. of 10 inches and are checking constantly. With no snow and below freezing at night should keep getting thicker. If anyone has any different updates please let me know as there is 6 of us coming and we are bring the youngsters so do not want to take any chances. It is also about a 5hr. drive so if not good would save us a drive also.

Lots of ice on the west side.  They are driving on the lake.  I am fishing in one of Perch-Eyes Guide Services sleeper houses right now!

Over the years, the perch have been getting harder to find.  But, as everyone has mentioned,  Don't know that I would get a guide but, certainly talk with the guys ad Ed's bait shop and also, Kyle at woodlands.  Good luck.
