Yep.  And the circuits that comprise a sonar use a transceiver.  A transmitter and a receiver.  A phone does the same thing.  So since we're not talking crystals and tuners, the circuits can be configured to receive GPS signals too.

I've always gotten a kick out of the "my flasher can beat up your flasher" arguments.  Except I've been using LCD graphs for the last 20 years.  My first fish finder was a Lowrance Fish Lo K Tor from 1978. :thumbsup:

Looks like we're on opposite side of the flasher battle.  ;D  My first was an Eagle Silent Thirty from the late eighties. Heck I ran that Eagle on the ice until 4 years ago. I haven't fished from a boat much the last 20 years, too freakin' busy in the summer, so I never really got into the lcd style units. Thought I am considering purchasing a boat again as retirement nears and would certainly use the screen style sonar in it.
