Portable shanty poles
« on: Aug 01, 2011, 05:13 PM »
I had problems last season with my galvanized shanty poles "icing" up. I had a hard time getting them apart and going together at times.  So I'm thinking of coating the mating joints with PAM Cooking Spray or maybe a little Turtle Wax.

I don't use poles in my shanty but can tell you to take some poles and put them in the freezer till you find what works best. Welcome to the shanty!

Welcome!!!! A spray of silicone works well, repels moisture, and is not "oily" or greasy.

I usually don't use the poles either.  to much work.  Easier to just fold it down, fish, and fold it up when your done.

Here is my shanty. Should explain why I don't use poles. I was trying to help someone that did have them.

I use silicone grease. It's waterproof and will not freeze or harden. Get it at HD in the plumbing dept. for a couple of bucks.

Not at all that hard to push. Besides I used a Honda 70 to pull it for years.

Yep!  I spent too much time thinking while running a monotonous machine at work. Kept having good ideas but would change my mind because of weight and cost.
