Mardens has a few left for like 6 bucks. I was thinking about maybe getting a couple. I'm just trying to find out peoples opinions on them.

The only problem ive heard was you cant see them when the snow gets deep.
If you fish the wrong lure long and hard enough it will eventually become the right lure!

I have ten for when I fish for bass and pickeral....I love how you can see the reel spinning before you get to the hole.

There also light and very durable....for six bucks it's a no brainer.

I have a set of Polar tip ups and a set of Jacks. The Polars are great for no/little snow conditions. They are also great for when you are targeting smaller fish. I love getting to the hole and seeing the spinner going like crazy! I have made some extenders out of plastic tubing for the flags for when the snow gets to be a foot or more. They work pretty well. One thing I want to do to mine is change the flags to black or dark blue. The dark colors seem to stand out against he snow or ice better than orange IMO.

I love em- but they are hard to see, buy a little flag or something to stick in the snow so people see them!  the newer ones have a clip you can set when fishing large bait so the bait doesn't trip the flag.  All 5 of mine have been run over at least once, but all still work fine.  Stay away from the ones with the telescoping flag- they break quick.  I have caught everything from pike to perch on mine with bait from 1 inch to 10 inches!

I love them I have 11 polars, some are really old like 30 plus year,a little blue lube in the shaft every 5 years or so.They have 4 setting on them, light to heavy, and if your really using big bait, you can loosen the screw on the shaft and raise it higher so it make it even harder to go off.I've caught, trout, perch, crappie, walleye, pike, musky,LM bass,SM bass and even giant cats on them,I love that the fish can run in any direction and the T top spins showing you that the fish is running.

These were my first traps.  I still use them for brookies for all the reasons stated above.  I think you will like them especially at that price.

I've used just about everything out there and all around they are the most dependable.Blowing snow is the only problem i have with them,Flag gets buried and won't come up.I mark the holes I use the polars in with a fir bough so they don't get run over.Have had alot of sleds stop to see what the branch is for but no runovers.

Ive used Polars for years and love them, have caught all species from salmon and lakers to largemouth bass with them.

Only times they are a disadvantage is when its blowing snow as previously stated.. but besides that they are great

They have four settings, on the "T" you have a smooth end and the other has notch to make it trip a little harder. Then By witch side you set the flag on makes a difference, when the "T" spins to the tip of the flag, has more tention, the other side will give you less!
