Was curious if you guys up there ever catch yellow perch. From the looks of this map there are some up there. http://nas2.er.usgs.gov/ARCIMS/interactive/interactive_AK.asp?speciesID=820&InterstatesON=&MajorCitiesON=&AllCitiesON=&CountiesON=&HUC8WFON=&HUC6WFON=&themap.x=386&themap.y=260
I've read of ADFG finding Yellow Perch illegally introduced to one lake on the Kenai Peninsula. Supposedly they were eradicated? I've, thankfully, never heard of anyone catching any though. We have enough problems with other invasive species up here. Don't get me wrong I LOVE the Pike fishing but not if it compromises my hunt for huge natural fish."The Yellow Perch was introduced to Alaska in 1995 or 1996 and is in an unnamed lake on the north Kenai Peninsula. The fish collected by the USGS Alaska Department of Fish and Game collected many two to four-year-old fish. The search was in May, 2000, and they are planning to eradicate them (the fish) by poison."
I would say no MAYBE some of the alpine lakes but a majority would not freeze
