Shaw Pond
« on: Jan 31, 2011, 12:48 PM »
Went to Shaw Pond yesterday for a few hours in the morning....Fun walking in the slush/snow  :%$#!: Took me almost an hour to shovel out and set up 4 tilts and one hole for jigging. One flag with a decent sized pickerel 22" and jigged up a bullhead which caught me a little by supporise seeing as I was going for panfish. Overall a good day just to not be doing anything else  :)

I go there a lot too...its close enough for me to go a couple hours in the morning on weekends and I usually have decent action. I posted pics from a trip a couple weeks ago....I caught a 13 inch perch with what looked like a big bite mark on its side...who knows maybe there are some big ones lurking...I always throw a big shiner down there just in case one swims by

It is located on Route 8 south of the intersection with rt 20 in Otis. There is a parking area next to the boat ramp but i am not sure they plow it.
Being on ice is nice but the tug is the drug.

I've been to shaw pond for the first three times in my life this year in feb and I've caught lots of bluegill and pumpkinseeds jigging on a ultra light rod. Each day that I went I've caugh a smallmouth on that same rod, first one was 17, the next day an 18, and the last day was a whopping 20 inches! I set up tipups too, and caught loads of spotted bass and largemouth, at least 20, there was also the occasional pickerel, although most weren't legal sized. Overall I think this has become one of my favorite ponds to fish. can't wait until spring or summer to see what it's like fishing!

I like fishing. No point trying to argue.

No Musky in Shaw, Pike stocked in early 90's.
