If I told you, I'd have to kill you! Just kidding. What species are you targeting? I don't fish Winni much, but I fish Massy a few times each season.
Quote- fishslap: I use a variety:  whistlin' bungholes, spleen splitters, whisker biscuits, honkey lighters, hoosker doos, hoosker don'ts, cherry bombs, nipsy daisers, with or without the scooter stick, or one single whistlin' kitty chaser

Both of those lakes have some quality fish in them but can fish very slow. Especially on winni two traps are not the most exciting trips for me.

Massy is very tough if you are a beginner, only because it contains massive flats which can be overwhelming. Look at maps of each lake and find the underwater points which lead into deeper water. This should give you any idea of where to start. Then once located, look for the sharper break lines or contours in and around that area. Fish will either be suspended off the point in deeper water or chasing bait against the steeper break lines into the shallows. At this point when the baitfish are "run" into the shallows, they can be pushed all over the flat, making fishing a 'hit or miss' proposition. In short, look for the points and you will find fish and as you begin to understand their movements, you will begin to consistently catch fish.

Now, as for species, each has their own preferred depth and temperature within the water column and how they related to structure. Structure is a vague word and has many meanings to each specific species..hint hint ;) ;D albeit a small ditch line or channel leading from a flat to deeper water etc...... You must learn and understand the species to which you are targeting and adjust accordingly. A good practice is to set the depth of your bait at 18-36" of the bottom of the lake for most species. Some will be higher and some will be lower, some shallower and some deeper....... such as rainbows, browns etc......again, it all depends upon what fish you are targeting.

Hope this gives you a starting point.

Where do you reside??... I ask because if you live close by, I would invite you to fish with us on Big Island Pond.

Cheers & Tight Lines!!!
