« on: Jan 13, 2005, 10:12 AM »
just got my brand new 5600 clam. nice weather today but dorpping tonite. im fine tuning the shak and was wondering any ingeniuos ways of dragging out . obviously its no light weight and i noticed when i drag in the snow where the trap doors are seem to grab the snow and slow down. geez those engineers agin haha. if they were flush with bottom and plastized would have been nicer. im thinkin of a frame work of pvc. with shallowsides . just big enough for the clam and stuff on top. anyone tried this??? wonderin how pvc goes in snow?  any ideas  greatly appreciated. youngster

Just invite a friend for some quality ice time and have him/her  ;)  help drag the portable out there.  Longer rope and one of those shoulder harnesses some use for dragging deer out might also help.

I have a Clam 1060 and modified at Jet Sled XL buy running a couple of pieces of metal across the sled about 30" apart starting from the back. I supported the metal underneath the lip of the sled and bolted it all together. I added a couple of eye hooks to the ends of the metal supports for tie downs. My auger slides in the sled underneath the metal supports I put the hut on top of the sled and strap it down. 2 5 gallon buckets fit in the sled on either side of the auger along with the rest of my gear. It does pull a bunch easier.

Throw it up on some 2x12's. Cut on end of them like a ski. You can even mount some plastic stripping to the bottom of the.

Build a sled.  All it takes is two old skis you can get for $10 at a garage sale, take the bindings off, bolt em to a piece of plywood, & throw your house on the plywood.  Works great!

Always wear clean underwear, cuz ya never know when the paramedics are gonna have to cut your pants off.
