I have had an 8" Eskimo Stingray for two seasons and I love it.  Starts first of second pull every time.  I have cut somewhere around 400 or pluss holes with and its been a good one.

I have a 8" Eskimo Pirana and it works very well, any auger that starts on a consistent basis is a good one.

I have a very old Jiffy.  She starts with a few pulls. It came with a 10" auger then I switched to an 8". I was afraid the hole would thaw to 11" and I would get a ticket from the Fish and Game  ;).  I bought it from a friend from Maine, who gave up ice fishing. I have owned it for about eight years now and I treat it like loyalty. Every year after ice off, I clean it up, drain the gas and run the carb dry. I also put stable in the gas which helps keep the seals conditioned.  I bought my Dad a new Eskimo three years ago and he loves it! I think it was the Shark. Bottom line is...take care of your equipment and it will take care of you.
