Marmish (one of the sponsors) has different sentivity spring bobbers...I don't know if they would work on rods other than theirs though...just bought a Marmish last week, but haven't even opened the packaging yet.

St Croix new icefishing rods have awesome looking spring bobbers. Cabelas sells them at three different sizes for under $5 as replacements. The probelm though is that you need a rubber gromet that only comes with the rods. Perhaps you can get 'em directly from the company.

I use old giutar strings. I prefer the G string (no jokes please lol) for panfish. Just take a 6" length and fashion it into an "extra" eye w/ some needlenose pliers. It should have about a 4" tag end to fasten to the rod. Lie the tag end extending out from the end of the rod to form another eye. Take a bit of electrical tape and fasten it to the rod tip. Very sensitive for even the tiniest bites. Never had a need to buy any spring bobbers. Use the lower toned strings to increase the resistance.

You guys won't be disappointed. I finally had to replace one last year after 8 years. They need to be re straightened from time to time if you hook a bass, walleye, etc. They also work well on those days when the bites are rising bites as opposed to pulling as with smelt. The lines just lifts off the wire. Good luck and enjoy.

I use .015 or .020 piano wire. Bend a lope on the end make it about 4" long paint it day glow red, chartruce, or what ever you like. Before you put the color on, give it a good coat of white or the day glow will not take.

Action Spring Bobbers. These are the ones with the double wires and the rubber coated clip with fingers that wrap around your rod tip. They're made by Kuhlman Industries and I've seen them recently with MagnaDyne stickers on them. They come indifferent sensitivities.

I make my own too. I use 24 ga. stainless wire , loop it and bend it down. Place 3beads,neon red, chartreuse then crimp a sleeve. Tape or sew to rod tip.
