Pole question?
« on: Dec 05, 2009, 10:11 PM »
Okay, I've fished out of a Hideout for years, but I got a bit of a Christmas bonus from work this year :o, so I'm gonna spend part of it for a flipover. Pretty much got it narrowed down to a Commando, or a Trekker II. I want to set in each before I decide for sure, I'm a big feller, (6'2"/280 lbs) and I want plenty room. I've read the Commando poles don't have to be extended, and the Trekker ones do. So my question is, do you have to collapse the poles every time you move, or is this just a once a trip deal? I'm pulling by hand, if that makes a difference.

I have the Trekker II.    While on the ice you generally won't have to collapse the poles to move around.  I'd say the only time you might have to is in deep snow and you are pulling it with a machine.   The Trekkers also have a nice clip at the pole brackets that will keep the top in a half open position.  I move around a lot using that as well.
