Jiffy Propane Auger
« on: Jan 30, 2011, 07:48 PM »
I bought a Jiffy propane auger a few weeks ago and have had time to test it out thoroughly in all kinds of conditions. I can tell you this...I will never go back to a gas auger again!  Starts first pull every time and pulls extremely easy. Unaffected by cold or at least as cold as we have had thus far about zero degrees (Left out overnight to test). Don't know how many holes it will cut per tank of propane as I have not had to change it yet, but I have cut many and it is very efficient. I honestly did not notice the slight extra weight this one has over my old model 30, whatever the difference is it's negligible.

If you have been thinking about one feel confident you are making the right decision.

I love that thing, I got about 50 holes in Upstate NY first few weeks out of one tank, so low maintenance its unreal  :o, just attach bottle pull and go, I never warm it up, throttles up second pull, drill drill drill, lays on the ice in 0 degrees 4 hours, drill a few more first pull every time, on my third bottle right now, been fishing since Mid Dec, couple of times a week.

I believe the gearcase is a composit, but the gears are steel.
It seems to go from zero to hero all some have to do is lie.

My Brother has over 70 holes drilled and still has 1/2 tank, BUT he now has a broken propane supply line.  The line between the "regulator" and the "carburetor" has come apart.
