Thorne Bros Custom Rod
« on: Jan 25, 2011, 07:17 AM »
I broke the tip on my power noodle over the weekend.  I didn't think it was anything I did either.  I was taking off a fish I just caught and the tip was bent and it just snapped.  It was really cold, but I thought it would be a little stronger.

Is it possible to repair?  I was also going to see if Thorne would do something to help me out.  Any ideas?  Or any past experience with these?

Bummer man ...  :'(
How much of the rod is gone?  I do believe they are made out of fiberglass, but that doesn't make them unbreakable, that's for sure.  You could always put a new tip on it but the action will change dramatically.  Shoot Matt @ Thorne Bros. an email and ask him ([email protected]). Let us know how you make out.

Sounds to me like you were "high sticking" the rod.  If that really is the case, then that is a very very good way to break the tip off of any rod.  They're not meant to bend at any steep angle in tight to the rod.

It probably was operator error.  I'm thinking I should be a "little" more careful in the future.

It broke right around where it goes from the orange color to the dark color...
