Alum Creek Lake 1-16-11

Went to Alum Creek above Columbus Sunday.  Was hoping for an ice-musky, but it didnt happen.  Did end up getting some ice-cats and a few gills/crappie.

Ice was 7 inches Sunday.  Not sure what the day and a half of rain did to it though?  Need some good cold temps. to beat the snow.  Supposed to get about 4-6 inches this afternoon though.

Nice fish Tom. We are heading to Alum Sunday. Can you say how deep the crappies were? Did you pick up any eyes?

No eyes, but I tried?  I was working a jigging rap tipped with minnow head in about 9-11 feet of water.  The crappie would come through suspended from about 5-7 feet.  Gotta be quick cause as soon as they are on the vex they are gone. But if you can get a lure near em they'll knock it.  Remember the 9" minimum.

We may be back up next weekend.  Been working 9's six days a week.  Really messes up my fishing!
