Just want to poll the masses:

Do ya'll like to take off the treble on kastmasters and tie on a leader and small jig, or just use it as is out of the box?  Same goes with Swedish Pimples.

Early on in the season, when fishing for perch and bass, I was doing really well with a 1/12oz kastmaster straight out of the box.  Not so much now.  Have read multiple posts and articles saying it's better to just use it as an attractor though, and to tie a leader on with a jig instead.  This seems to be the format of those Hali "chains" people mention using?

TIA.

With the kastmasters, I do change out the treble hook with a better one.  I have found that the stock hooks are not nearly as sharp as I would like....as for pimples, I just stick with the single hook

topher- Thanks for the reply; When you tie on a new hook, do you drop a leader first?  Or add back onto the split ring directly?

i leave the swedish pimples as they are, but i always tie on a small jig beneath my kastmasters. so far my favorite has been a 1/8 oz. perch colored one with 2" of line and an all-glow rat finkee size 10

I don't like the hooks on the swedish pimples for walleyes, they always seem to get bent after a couple of fish so I usually change them on the bigger ones I have. They are fine for panfish though. I like to use a dropper on them once in awhile too.

I usually attach the hook right back on the split ring

Some in both normal and some with dropper style.  Let the fish tell you which ones.
