Lowrance LFG-120 Flasher
« on: Jan 10, 2011, 09:51 PM »
Ok, so due to the great advice on IS I bought a Lowrance 2260.   I got an LFG-120 box as well for a buddy really cheap on it's way.  Anyone know how much power this has?

Will it work fine in 20 FOW?  I'm assuming this is a much older unit?  Hoping it's like a "Green Box"

Thanks!

The LFG-120 is a much older unit (probably from the early 1970's).  The power is much less than the 2260.  Still it may work so long as it has a good transducer.  There were many versions of the green box starting around 1960 (preceded by the red box in the late 1950's).  The early ones were very low power and actually had to be tuned to the transducer by the factory or a service center to work properly.  The latest versions (the model P-300E from the  mid 1980's) were equivalent to the 2260.  The oldest ones were called the LO-K-TOR  and had a 0-100 ft scale).  I would stay away from them due to the factory tuning thing.  The new ones were the LFP-300 series and had a 0-60 ft range and some had dual range.  So long as they have a good transducer, they should work OK for $50 or less.
I just put this extra info in as many folks ask about these units every year.  I hope this helps.
Good luck.

Norm - Thanks so much for this info, I know I've asked a ton of questions.

I'll keep scouring the boards and try and point people in this direction as well as my other 2260 Post in return.

It really is appreciated!
