Find deeper water for perch, where they will be munching on red maggots. I see alot of people fishing out in front of the marina but I usually only catch dinks out there. They seem so to be in the 30-40 foot range. Back by the dam they are suspended at the same depth. Fish shallow for bass and pike. Ice is still very good must be over a foot by now. I have seen smaller SUVs and plenty of four wheelers on the lake. Hope this helps!!

Thanks for the update...I've been using red maggots on a Hali.  I will be heading out Sunday morning.  Probably be fishing off the Rock near the cove towards 385.

yes, lots of dinks in front of the marina, includiing my fishing partners. Deeper the better right now I've found. Caught a 16-inch rainbow off 385 on Monday, that was a good battle. Red maggots and Hali, or Genz Bug. I'm going out Saturday, hoping to be able to drive on the ice. Or at least ride with someone brave.

Just got back from sheridan. The bite was kinda slow this afternoon towards dakota point. Had a school of jumbos move through suspended and caught a few. Alot of lookers but few takers. Maybe they sense the storm coming in? Game warden has been out checking liscences the past few times Ive been up there. Keep in mind the new perch limits (15). There were people driving on the ice but it couldnt be more than twelve inches thick. I wouldnt recomend it in a half ton or bigger, maybe a smaller SUV that you can bail out of easy. Im sure the insurance company wouldnt be to thrilled over that phone call.

Its supposed to be cold as hell on Monday...do you have room in your shack?  So you guys are meeting up there or are you meeting in town?  I don't have an auger, but I am working on a deal for a flasher as we speak.

Have fun at sheridan, use red maggots!! I got one of those ice huts at runnings you were talking about for 100 bucks. It seems like it is going to work well, until the wind really whips up. I will be fishing a tournament this weekend in Wyoming, I am hoping to be in the money. But we will see, I usually risk my life to fish that lake. Wish me luck haha!

so me and icehole and some other dinks will be fishing off the south boat ramp at sheridan hopefully by sunup (if he can roll out of bed in time). Look for a black Frabill house and cursing, and stop and say hi if you're in the area! icehole is bringing cocktails.

I'm free tomorrow.  Do you guys have room in your shack for a scrawny little white guy so he doesn't freeze his ass off?

How'd the fishin go boys? I fished a two day tournament in Wyoming this weekend. Over two hundred registered, twenty fish caught. I caught two massive perch that won me two hundred bucks. The trick was catching a fish, any fish. There are alot of people upset right now haha. Must have been cold up there on the ice today!! Tight lines!!

Fished Sheridan from sunup till 4 pm.  Think we ended up with 20 or so nice sized perch, but it was a lot of work.  The suspended schools acted like they had a race to run.  They would blow into the vex cone and back out before we could even get a hali down quite often.  On the up-side, if you could get close to 'em, they would bite.

Ice is fine, everywhere we went, 12" or so even at the dam.

Good luck!

Tough bite on Sheridan for most of the guys I have talked to. I have been putting together decent limits but it has involved a lot of holes and a lot of moving. Like mtelkhunter said, they are moving fast when you do find them. It is hard to even average one fish a hole.

There are lots of fish out there though! Just keep hole hoping and you should be able to enjoy some of the best eats around.
