Well me and my dad finally made it out together! There was 4 inches of crystal clear ice after all the rain but the ice was dry on top. It was creepy walking out there. It was making ice the entire night and by the time we left there was about a half inch of snow on the ice. The wind was blowing so hard that I had to secure the shanty sled with 2 ice anchors one on each side and then once we got it set up I had to use 2 more in the bront to keep the flip all the way down on the ice. It was good to go once we got that taken care of! Plenty warm with the lantern and the heater going.
Hard to see but my dad snagged one! Its about 3 inches of the green depth finder on his jacket.

The ice was so clear and the smelt were so close to the top of the ice we could watch them swimming around under us. Watching them was beyond words. There was literally THOUSANDS under us. My camer is waterproof so I stuck it down the hole and this is what I ended up with.
