Harvey Lake
« on: Jan 01, 2011, 01:07 PM »
Anticipating the trout season I thinking of a place to hit opening day, fished here once got a couple of lakers. Heard a guy say once that something is messed up with you if you can't jig a couple lakers up, anyone have good luck out there?

Harvey's has some big lakers but the fishing can be slowwwww. My father caught one over 18 lbs (in open water), my cousin caught one (through the ice) even bigger. The NEK ice derby winner, a laker over 23 lbs, came from here a couple years back as well. I have better luck trying for rainbows.

Both work but smelt work best by far. The smelt are tough to catch there.

That was a cool day seeing that 23 pounder.  Gives you a little hope that the big ones are out there.
