How big is a JUMBO Perch???

I started it so I will be first to put my four cents in. ( Inflation, who would a thunk it ).

I say a jumbo is 12 inches and bigger.

Sounds about right, I don't keep them under 10-11".

I would like to say that I think 12 is BIG, maybe 15 would be JUMBO!!!

Then my 12 1/2" is a jumbo by that definition. I called it an almost jumbo perch.

I'd say 12+ puts it in the JUMBO range.

I would say 12.5+ is jumbo for nj but some states 12.5 is their average perch. I've seen guys with catch 14-15 + in the poconos

These are NOT the same fish. The one that I'm holding is 15-inches. And no....I will not tell you where I caught them and no.......it was not a private lake. Merry fishing!!!!

12inches plus. There're few places you could get a mess of perch between 10-13 inches. Even those places 14inchers  aren't commen.

I remember catching 13-17 inchers through the ice years ago at Spruce Run. still get some nice 13-14 ins at Furnace Lake open water, only see <10ins through the ice

Biggest perch I ever caught was 16". It was in Sept about 10 years ago at Kasmir Pond In Waywayanda SP.   I was psyched to ice fish it after that.  When It froze over I went. Caught nothing and the bait was dieing quickly. Someting must have happened to the oxygen level or something.

Merry Christmas Bruce... I was saying 12 so the rookies and short timers could feel good. 12's are very nice fish, but my personal best is from your home lake and was 16.5 and hit the scales in the deli ( that's a certified scale ) at 1.93. The other 38 fish we got that day, well the smallest was just over a pound and a hair over 12 inches. That's right guys, here in NJ on a lake where lots of folks live and not many fish, soft or hard water from what I remember. When January comes around lets try to get together some place and say Howdy.

Merry Christmas to one and all, may Santa bring that portable shed or that new finder or that extra special auger to all the good ice fishers out there.

As for the bad ice fishers, keep working at it, it's how you get good.

Hey tonyrad, from looking at where you're from and reading the numbers you just wrote, I can almost assure you that the same two perch you see above that I posted are from the same lake. I completely believe 16.5 and I would be shocked if there isn't a state record in there somewhere. I been fishing there exactly twice and these were two of the 75+ perch that we caught that day.
