I find they bite the most in March just before they spond. I just use a jig head with a minnor on it bouncing it off the bottom.

I had really good luck last year from January through ice off on Holter using dead sucker minnows and meat on a treble hook below a tip up.  We were catching 5-10 ling a night.

Holter is the place. Trappermike is spot on.... Fished it every month last winter and limited out every night I went.  Run your 's out from shore gettin deeper as they go.  The later it gets the closer the bites get to shore, last fish I caught every night was under the shanty from a pole.  Got a 31in'er last year.  Use the freshest dead bloody fathead suckers u can.  I'll run my knife down their bellies just so their seeping a bit. Good luck!

Anywhere there's a deep cove coming to shore...i.e. First boat launch/Black Beach/Log Gulch etc.  Run the   line right to the bottom and I'll give it about 8/10 inches of slack so when they pick it up they've got no tension.  's I run about 15/20 yds apart.  Good Luck!

I would listen to IcemanZ... he gave me all the same information last year and I caught fish.  Thanks!  Maybe we'll see you again on Holter this year.
