I'm looking for fish. Has anyone been to Montreal Lake, Bittern or Anglin lately? Where are the fish? Where can you drive on with a 4x4? Is any other lake producing around PA?

There are lots of fish on all of those lakes.
You will need a sled or prepare to walk.
All 3 you mentioned are producing, as well as most others in the area.
I will be out through the weekend, trying a few new areas.
Will let you know.

Was at Anglin for a few days this weekend perch were biting pretty darn good walleye were just messing with my head nibbling at the tail of the minnow but were biting pretty good towards the evening. Pike were not as aggressive as past years but o well caught perch all day long kept me busy. Friends were at Montreal on Sunday for a couple hours really slow by the beach they said only a 3 pike but one 10 lbs.

canada - you still heading up on friday?  shoot me a p.m. if so.

adam - sounds like a good wknd at anglin, motivated me to get down there one of these days at least!  been almost 3 weeks since i've been...where abouts were you catching perch?  everyone i know out there ends up on em and i've to this day caught 2 in the last 4 seasons.  i do tend to fish shallower than most anglers though, maybe that's got something to do with it.

mcphee had been going pretty good in the early AM but now is the craps again.  decent pike but think i may have ate the last walleye out of there...going to do some exploring tomorrow.  heading out to a new spot on waskesiu that gave up perch, pike and a burbot to a buddy last time he was out.

Ranger-
Finalizing plans for fri tmrw, just awaiting word for guy who was up there.
Fished candle last wknd, as we were in the area....slow slow.  The march madness will be here soon though.

Adam-
Nice you got into some, there are some good perch in that lake.
Often times in deep water also.

Have not been to montreal for awhile, heard it has been slow there also.

thanks man.  never have much trouble getting some eyes but the perch are rare for myself...will have to try deeper & beefheart - have some strips soaking in tuna oil as we speak  ;)

got out to new spot on waskesiu late, around 5:00 - had to move a deep freeze for a buddy, shoulda stayed and drank beer as didn't even see a fish.  nice structure but that doesn't put fillets in the pan.

out to mcphee or anglin in the morning...canada - let me know about friday, am ready at the drop of a hat.

slow morning on anglin from 8-11:00, 3 pike and a 13" perch on the last jig of the day... with a bunch of eggs and spuds will make some good breaky.  thinking about frying the eggs up too, have heard can be good but never tried.  ties my PB perch and strangely enough both were caught on bare jigging raps.  only saw one walleye saunter by and lost one other fish on the deadstick.

out again somewhere tonight, either pear or mcphee..

What a life ranger....what a life ha ha.
Will let you know tonight.  If that lk does not work, will be bittern for sure. Sled is loaded already.
My bro in law cooks the eggs up, says they are good, never tried though.

I have caught good perch where adam was talking about.
Would be nice to settle in on top of large school.

didn't get out this morning...backs been killing me lately and picked up a couple hours work later this morn so decided to save the energy and fish later in the day when the pain can be dealt with by beer  ;D

no plan other than that, so let me know where you're headed...might just stick close to home as want to catch most of the leafs game, especially if the bite isn't on...we should have a chance against the blues.

did well last night on mcphee...hit up a spot i had luck at for the last half of march last season, lots of fish there.  caught 3 nice walleye all males and 2 good pike.  saw tonnes of fish that wouldn't hit until i finally got downsized enough - micro!

Hit Anglin on Saturday. 16 walleye (small) 15 perch (up to 12") and 7 pike on tip ups.
Could have been worse.

No doubt. Finally I actually hit the ice. We fished by the island, mostly in 20 feet. Pike started hitting tip-ups late, but caught all 7 in about half an hour. Did you get to Bittern this weekend Canada? Lars is going to Carol's Cove tomorrow. Will let you know how it turns out.

forgot about your expertise!  not sure what i did to it - thinking it's the chair i'm using out on the ice &/or all the sledding..  going to switch things up and see what happens.  too young to feel like an old man!

did you manage to get out or receive any reports canada?

we got our crew out on mcphee on friday after after-work beers...spent more time bs-ing and enjoying the fire than fishing, but managed two jacks.  hit waskesiu out from the marina yesterday and got the skunk.  buddy lost a decent jack but that was that.  giving up on that lake until later in march once a guy can make sense of where the fish might be.
