Quebec city/St-Laurent River/Ice fishing
« on: Nov 22, 2010, 11:40 AM »
Here in Quebec City, we have to do with the tide, twice a day, it lift up the ice about 4 to 6 meters, then going back to the bottom and just lay on multiples rocks, that's caused many breack point of the ground..it's spécial to see that and a little scarry....Sometime it's look like fishing on another planet.

Hope you enjoy!

how often do you guys lose shanties to the pressure ridges? It looks like a permanent hut could be gone with the next tide swing.

No..we chose a flat place(we know they're any rock there) the ice is really thick(maybe 5 -6 feet) The worst thing at this place, is the wind..he's very strong...if the ground is not enougth icy(not soft snow..see what could happen!

got another place on St-Laurent river and it's also hazardous..we have to go as far as possible for catch walleyes..4-5 inches of ice at this point and the clear water is near..it's not to bad..but if a big transporter boat pass in face of us,,we have to go back on thicky ice and wait for the wave and hope!..

that's wy at this place, i prefer use fishing rods..we moove faster..and lost less equipment if everything breack!

Dont worry..we also have a couples of more sécurity lakes!  ;)
