Are Baffin boots really worth thier price????
« on: Nov 19, 2010, 05:23 AM »
Im currently looking for a pair of boots to keep my feet warm, after having bypass it seems im not sure if its blood flow, medication im taking now or both. But i just cant find a pair to keep them warm, Id hate to have to give up ice fishing and hunting because I get cold feet. Any help would be greatly appriciated with experience with these or other boots.

thanks
dave

I have had several instances of frost-bite on my feet and consequently have always had a hard time keeping my feet warm.  I bought a pair of Baffins last year and they're ok.  I bought them because my mickey-mouse boots are 20+ years old and getting dry rot, but to be honest they are still the warmest boots I have ever worn.  They are a little heavy though.  The Baffins are definitely lighter, but if you have a machine or don't walk far, I think you will find mickey mouse boots are about the warmest you can get.  If you can find them.

I have a pair of the bata mickes black ones and feet still get cold, wish I had the white ones I had in the Air Force they toasted my feet. I thank you for the response, I dont know what im going to do, Id hate to pay almost 200 bucks for the Baffins that are rated at 140 below and they not work caught between a rock and hard spot I guess.

Look for a pair of pack boots that have insulation in the rubber part of the boot and a separate liner. Try la cross ice king. I also put in woll felt insoles to help block the cold out coming from the ice. A good pair of woll socks will help to.

In my opinion yes.  I have only owned one pair of Baffins (Impact) and I have never had cold feet in Saskatchewan (very cold).  As mentioned, they are very light.

Muck boots.....You will love them. Light, warm and waterproof. Get the arctic sport ones.
