Ice conditions in your area?
« on: Feb 25, 2010, 05:13 AM »
Starting a post to list the ice conditions near where you live. Just trying to help keep people safe and save gas money looking for safe ice! Might not be much left from bangor south after this freaking storm gets done!
Is it ice time yet???

If not the rain, then the 12-24 inches of wet heavy snow should make the ice up north so slushy you won't be able to go anyhow :-\

Agreed. We're getting hosed either way. The NOAA website shows the nights getting progressively colder into next week, but the days will be a bit above freezing. Drove by the station this morning at Sebago. Not pretty at all.

Cathance Round Pond and Boydens had 14-15" yesterday but the shore line is very thin and even open in some areas.

checked out biscay pond today in Damariscotta and it is opening up along the shore. Not much water on the ice as of this morning, but that will change with all this rain.

had 10 inches on Highland last night as I was pulling the shack off.  It doesn't look good out there tonight . Getting on the ice here is going to be the trouble right now. the water is ontop of the ice around the shoreline about 30 feet out . I'm glad to have it in near shore .

Arrowhead had 16-18" where we fished last night.  The shore wasn't looking as inviting though  ;)

If everyone concentrated on the important things in life, there would be a shortage of fishingpoles.......... ..............Remember we all live downstream
