Still alive........but not well
« on: Feb 08, 2010, 09:40 AM »
BigDaddy here.I know most of you probaly do not know me.I am a former Licensed Guide who retired due to illness.I have been very sick the last 2 years so I have not been out jigging as much as I would like.My Pain Doctor has me on 480mg of Oxycontin, which turns me into a Power Puker daily. The worst thing is when my core temp falls to a certain level it makes me power puke and puts me in bed for 2 days or so.Had not had a shot at a deer deer hunting in 3 years.I even had a new rifle that I had not gotten a shot with...all that changed on the opener.I whacked 3 by 930 am.I filled my buck tag and 2 permits in a 1/2 hour frenzy of shooting.Best day ever for me and my freezer and my extended families freezers are full.My Buddy Herb and I fished the Chenango Lake perch derby this past weekend.Cold day and sunny w/o a bite.We drilled at leaset 40 holes and didnt connect. We are headed to WP Crappie derby barring any sudden illness from myself.Miss the old days of chatting w/fellow hardwater folks. If any of the old crew wants to get ahold of me [email protected]  Have fun out there and be safe.Peace and One Love  BigD ;)
Please Mother Nature, not this year too???

Hey guy,
We are heading up to the WP Derby Friday Night with the boys. We are staying locally. If you need some help with getting on and off write me an email and I will give you details.
It sucks being sick or hurt. I know all about  it. I have two fishing apprentices that will be glad to supply you with any assistance you might need.
It's about Brotherhood my friend. We teach our boys about Brotherhood and it's lasting effects.

Hope You Mend well.

Glad to hear you are getting out there. I know how nasty that stuff is, the wife takes it everyday to cope with pain. She has to take Promethazine to keep from hurling all day. Not fun way to live. Hope they find something to help you feel better.

Hey guys I can really respect what you're going through. I wasn't able to get out last year at all to ice fish. I'm 41 and had been on oxycontin for 5 years for a serious back issue. My kiddneys were failing and my liver could not handle that stuff anymore, I was or fealt like I was on deaths bed. My doctor decided to implant a morphine pain pump in my back and WOW!!!!! I'm off oxycontin and back out ice fishing this year. Somedays are short and sometimes days to recover but I hope I will always be able to fish and hunt. God bless you and wish you well I hope the best for you during these times.
Mike

That Oxycontin is a killer.I hate to puke but I puke just about every day at 5am or so.It seems when I get out of a warm bed and hit any kind of cold draft or whatever, sends me into a puke state. My Pain Specialist threw every kind of anti-emetic going and settled on Marinol, which is pot in a pill.Sadly the only time it works is if I can catch the nausea coming on early. After that its hopeless as who can swallow a pill whilest ready to hurl?? I can't.I am waiting very patiently for medical marijuana to be legal in NY.The bill sits waiting to be passed and the Gov has said it will be signed.I recently had a sezuire while driving and took out 3 mailboxes.Cops came and as soon as I said I was a chronic pain patient, they went for narcotics(my medicine is locked in a safe not in my Dads truck!) bust instead of asking why I could have passed out and called an ambulance. No ambulance was called and I ended up in handcuffs for 6 hours and charged with DWAI.I have been driving for a year on my present does,480mg,with no issues. The night before the accident I tried a new prescription for sleep-Xanax=knew nothing about this med but found out later too late that it stays with you for 16 hours. So its gonna be a legal mess.My GP said as soon as you told cops you had sezuire they were required to call an ambulance. We shall see.I think its crazy that a chronic pain patient can be handcuffed for 6 hours when no threating gestures were made by myself. The cops dislocated my shoulder pulling me out by my arms when I couldnt fit in back of cruiser. So they made me lie down on way to Crowbar Motel.Good place for a pain patient huh? Oh well enough.I'll be at WP slaying crappies near the "Old Pond" part of REsivoir.I hammer the whites there using TonyOnIce 3 dotters and spikes or rosy reds.Fatheads suck-I have a Frabill XLT with my name on the door-come on over and say hello-BigD

Sir,
I have the same issue with chronic pain. I almost lost my left arm 20 years ago. All the nerves were ripped from thier prior locations and no longer work. I suffer ever day from a numb and almost usless arm. It wakes me up everynight and I bet I sleep 2-3 hours a night. It's nap time all the time after work. I was on a series of pain medications you name it I have tried it. It's the nerve damge that makes me cringe. It's not so apparent I am in pain. I am so used to it I ignore until it get to that level where it stands  you up and take a deep breath. I do not want to be addicted to OC or Vicotin  or any of the other Opiates. That's all I need. So to endure the pain I have used Cannnabis. It takes the edge off and I can sleep.
Anyway we'll be looking for you at WP. We are staying at the Three Bears. I am sure I will be at the Bar there Friday night with a photo album stop by, I'm buying.

its a darn shame that it isnt legalized already. New york has some pretty lenient laws regarding the stuff, youd think they would just bite the bullet. Many other states have passed the bill for medical MJ and they have much harsher laws then we do. Its just a matter of time

We were there. Had my book with pictures. I ended up showing them to the bar maid. She was cute and we chatted for a while. Other than me and her the place was empty at 8 pm. Sorry we missed you. We did pretrty well in the Derby. The kids cleaned up.
