I dont think you could go wrong by mormon hill head to wards bird house point you will probably see people out there just start drilling and searching dont sit on a dead hole long Have not been out in two weeks but have talked to a friend that said the bite is tough but good luck

I haven't been to morman hill lately but in warmer temps it can be tough without 4wd.  HQ is easy access for first timer just follow trails on ice.  I'll be out there by noon with plans to stay til dark.  Good luck.  Also, take Surly's advice and don't sit on a dead hole too long. Drill. Drill. Drill.

Miami we were at Slough today went out of Morman. Road was ok early (before 9 am) before the sun got high. Coming out it was pretty nasty (3 pm) We got 24 gills all 7.5 - 9.5 and 1 crappie 10". We caught alot more fish but put our limit to keep at 7.5". If you go out at Morman head east from parking lot you'll see the trail on the snow. Head toward the well defined grass line (that's the channel). We crossed then went left toward the duck blind. We caught more and our better fish closer to the channel away from the grass. Alot of fish coming in only a foot to foot and half down. We used horizontal & flirty girty jigs (black or purple) and waxies. Caught some on plastics also. There was a fella that was a little closer to the duck blind that caught alot of nice ones too. Hope this helps just watch that road if you go to Mormans.  8)
Fish as much as you can we're not here forever!
