Best Jig/bait for eyes??
« on: Feb 01, 2010, 07:27 PM »
Hello All,  I wanted to pick some of your brains about Walleye fishin.  I am heading to Oneida lake this weekend to try and find some eyes and perch(yellow & whites). I have fished big bay before but never out on the lake in winter.  I am going to fish somewhere on the north shore and was wondering what is your go to jig and bait for the eyes.  I have been on the pond most of the time this year with a few trips up to A-Bay for pans and am excited to hit the lake.  Also what depth this time of year should I be looking for, As always I will have my vex ready and on to search, run and gun if need be.  Thanx for the info in advance.
I FISH, THEREFORE I AM, IN SEARCH OF THE HEDI MOGIN !!!!HAVE ROD WILL TRAVEL!!!

Perch are hitting in about 30-35 feet of water.  Lewis Point is giving up some nice eyes.  Guys are jigging them up off the point in about 30-35 feet of water.  As far as bait anything we'll take em'.  I like using livebait(shiners) and also jigging rapalas and lindy darters.  i plan on going this weekend if I don't go to the Erieville Derby.  Good Luck.  If you're not catching them don't wait to move.

Not sure where we are going out of, just wanted to see what baits all liked to fish for eyes with.  Got a full arsenal of jigs to work with.  Hopein to maybe find some white perch as a bonus.

Brotherman, dude I used a small all silver swedish pimple tipped with a whole buckeye and was SLAPPIN EM in 30-35 ft both perch(yellow and whites) and Eyes and that was in Northbay! When you call me later I'll give you all the details!
Crappies beware!!! The CrappieAssasin is on the prowl!!!
